José Barbosa's (IGNA) artistic practice continually plays with the boundaries between his personal history and the visual languages derived from navigating the internet. Focusing on drawing as a means of sensory translation, his body of work articulates an emotional archaeology of scrolling: images that emerge as remnants of compulsive browsing, where intimate archives and interconnected affectivity intertwine.
With a loose and playful technique—which contrasts with the pristine nature of screens—IGNA moves toward a critical space where the residual, the discarded, and the banal become expressive material. In doing so, he seeks neither to consecrate nor satirize popular culture, but rather to inhabit its ambiguity: to interrogate the limits between art and non-art, between the elevated and the despised.

La práctica artística de José Barbosa (IGNA) juega continuamente con las fronteras entre su historia personal y los lenguajes visuales derivados de navegar en la red. Centrado en el dibujo como medio de traducción sensorial, su cuerpo de obra articula una arqueología emocional del scroll: imágenes que emergen como residuos de una navegación compulsiva, donde se entrelazan archivo íntimo y afectividad interconectada.
Con una técnica suelta y lúdica —que se contrapone a la pulcritud de las pantallas— IGNA se desplaza hacia un espacio crítico donde lo residual, lo descartado y lo banal devienen material expresivo. Con ello, no busca consagrar ni satirizar la cultura popular, sino habitar su ambigüedad: interrogar los límites entre arte y no arte, entre lo elevado y lo despreciado.
